Church Street Practice can provide all the vaccinations currently recommended by the Department of Health for children and at-risk groups.

Children
The first immunisations in children are given 8 weeks after birth. Before being given your child must have a 6 week check by your GP who will sign your immunisation form in your child’s red book. Once you have seen your GP please book your child’s first immunisation at reception.
Pre-school immunisation reminders are sent out by the practice. The school nurses carry out the HPV vaccination programme.

Flu
These are given annually to help protect against influenza virus.They are available from early October. We offer two flu clinics in October and catch-up clinics for those unable to attend a flu clinic. It may also be possible to have your injection during a routine visit to the practice. We routinely visit residential homes to provide flu jabs. However, if you are housebound please contact the surgery to arrange a nurse to see you at home.

Shingles
A vaccine to prevent shingles, a common, painful skin disease is now available on the NHS to patient’s aged 70 and there is a limited catch up campaign over the next few years. The practice will notify you if you are eligible. Please click on the link to the left for further information. The shingles vaccine is given as a single injection. Unlike the flu jab, you’ll only need to have the vaccination once.

Vaccines for Special Groups
There are some vaccines that aren’t routinely available to everyone on the NHS but which are available for people who fall into certain risk groups, such as pregnant women, people with long term health conditions and healthcare workers.
These extra vaccines include Hepatitis B vaccination, TB vaccination and Chickenpox vaccination.
